About the Journal

Hilah: Contemporary Fiqh Studies is a peer-reviewed international journal published by Kaifama Academic Publishing. The journal is dedicated to advancing original and high-quality scholarship on contemporary Islamic jurisprudence, with a particular focus on the processes through which fiqh is interpreted, adapted, reconstructed, and developed in response to emerging realities and complex societal transformations. HILAH promotes rigorous research that examines Islamic legal reasoning as a dynamic intellectual tradition shaped by ijtihad, juristic deliberation, methodological innovation, and normative engagement with contemporary challenges.
The journal encourages interdisciplinary and methodologically robust studies that explore contemporary Islamic legal reasoning, legal adaptation (takyif fiqhi), maqasid al-shariah, fatwa methodology, juristic authority, inter-madhhab engagement, and the reconstruction of Islamic legal norms in modern contexts. It particularly welcomes contributions addressing the interaction between fiqh and emerging issues such as artificial intelligence, digital technologies, biotechnology, environmental sustainability, Islamic finance, family relations, healthcare ethics, and other evolving fields that require innovative juristic responses.
HILAH employs a rigorous double-blind peer-review process to ensure the originality, scholarly quality, and academic significance of every publication. Published biannually under an open-access model, the journal seeks to foster global scholarly dialogue and contribute to the development of contemporary Islamic jurisprudence by providing a platform for theoretical, conceptual, and applied research on the future directions of fiqh in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.
The journal welcomes interdisciplinary and globally engaged scholarship that critically examines the relationship between formal schooling, pesantren institutions, Islamic intellectual traditions, and contemporary educational transformation. JSPS encourages contributions that move beyond descriptive educational narratives toward theoretically informed, empirically grounded, and methodologically rigorous studies.
JSPS particularly promotes research exploring curriculum and pedagogy, Islamic educational philosophy, school culture, pesantren modernization, digital learning transformation, educational policy, social inclusion, character education, multicultural education, gender perspectives in education, and community-based learning practices within local and global contexts.
